Upcycled Basket Making

Class Description

“Up-cycling” is a relatively new term used to describe the process of converting waste material into new materials or products of higher value.

In this class, we will explore plastic bags, newspaper, cardboard, twist ties, and other scrappy junk as prime material for basketmaking. We will spend the first part of class learning how to upcycle material into cordage, and then we’ll start forming our baskets.

Students are encouraged to bring material they would like to experiment with.

Crochet hooks and tapestry needles are helpful to bring if you have them.
